「ぬ」と言いながら現れるわけでもなく、足音が「ぬ」でもない。
It does not appear while saying "ぬ", nor does it sound like footsteps.
「ぬらり」の「ぬ」だけ残ったと思われる。
Only the "ぬ" in "ぬらり" seems to have remained.
ぬらり自体にも「つかみどころがない」という意味はある。しかし妖怪ぬらりひょんの「いつの間にか家にいる」という神出鬼没性も表しているのだと思う。
NURARI itself means "elusive. However, I think it represents the mysteriousness of the yokai Nurarihyon "being at home before you know it".
